Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actress and director who is known for her sexy appeal and edginess and also for
her charitable work. Jolie is the daughter of actor Jon Voight, was raised in
New York. After her early years, she moved to Los Angeles, where she was the
character of an inpatient with mental illness in Girl, interrupted (1999).
After two years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute She enrolled at
Beverly Hills High School. New York University later taught her drama. She also
acted in theatre productions, and was a model for music videos. It was in
Hackers (1995) that Jolie met Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married in
1996, divorced in 1999). The film didn't find an audience, which was the case
for a series of subsequent movies. However, in 1997 Jolie was the subject of
much interest as the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor in the
television movie George Wallace, and she was later awarded the Golden Globe
Award for her performance. She played the role of a supermodel who struggles
with addiction to drugs in the HBO film Gia in 1999. This performance earned
her numerous awards including a Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild
Award. After her Oscar-winning performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie appeared
in Pushing Tin, a comedy featuring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton and Billy
Bob Thornton. Then, in 2003, she was divorced. In Gone in Sixty Seconds
((2000)), Jolie played Nicole Cage's girlfriend. Later, she adopted an accent
that resembled a British accent, learned the art of street fighting and
kickboxing, and was able to play the title roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider
(2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). In 2004, she
played the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander and also
appeared alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky Captain and the World of
Tomorrow, a sci-fi thriller set in the 1930s of New York City. Both films
disappointed in terms of box-office revenue, however Jolie's Mr. & Mrs.
Smith (2005) was successful. Jolie played a character who was playing a typical
householdwife as she worked on the movie. Brad Pitt became her partner in the
film.
